About The Position:

This job post is for A+ players only. To be considered for this position, a successful proven track record in the private sports and fitness industry is required. You must be able to show proven results in client success and retention with athlete and adult populations alike.

As a Full-time performance coach at The Spot Athletics, you will be taught and held accountable to our world-class coaching standards. We provide an extensive onboarding process, a plethora of educational resources and ongoing continuing education opportunities to ensure you understand and can execute our standards savagely well.

You will coach clients from 8 to 80 years old, and no matter who you are working with, you are expected to show gratitude for the chance to positively impact that client’s life. Your job is to ensure that all our clients, from people new to exercise to pro athletes, feel cared for, appreciated and that the time they spend at The Spot Athletics is the best part of their day.

Founded in 2010 by published author, international speaker, world champion powerlifter, Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) co-founder, and former University of Kentucky strength coach, JL Holdsworth, we are a growing organization that currently operates two world-class, 20,000 sq. ft., private training facilities in the Columbus, Ohio area. The ideal Rock Star Performance Coach/Personal Trainer at The Spot Athletics must have a proven track record of delivering a world class training experience to clients of different ages, athletic abilities and skill levels, preferably in the private sports & fitness industry. They must care deeply about serving others and helping clients of all populations achieve their goals.

They must be a positive, personable and hard-working individual who has a strong passion for training and/or fitness, and this is apparent through their coaching, and the product/results they deliver to their clients. A lifelong learner with a growth mindset is a must as we are always pushing to get better every day. This selfless team player must be adaptable and have the ability to adjust quickly while thinking on their feet.

Thinking on your feet is a must, with a large exercise index in your memory, and successfully passing a graded coaching (training) session with clients will be part of the requirement to be finally considered for this job.


  • Create a Spot Athletics community bursting with raving fans.

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of the weight room area.

  • Understand and teach fundamental movement patterns and lifts.

  • Create a positive, high energy, and inviting environment for the clients and staff.

  • Communicate with and manage clients to create a unique and memorable experience.


  • A minimum of four years of paid personal training or strength coach experience in the private sports and fitness sector.

  • Must be passionate about coaching and bring the juice (high energy) for every session and every client.

  • Team player, infectious positive attitude. If you are not fun to be around, don’t apply.

  • Boisterous personality with the ability to cultivate strong relationships

  • Ability to deliver a training session at an elite level

  • Great communication skills

  • Strong coaching voice. If we can’t hear the passion, energy and enthusiasm in your voice while you are coaching, this job isn’t for you.

Compensation range listed is base pay.  Opportunity to make over $100k based on coaching level, client acquisition and retention, and other criteria.
