Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Personal Trainer is responsible for delivering fitness and personal training services to members and guests, including but not limited to: developing and delivering comprehensive training programs based on clients’ goals, performing new member orientations, and building a roster of clients through client-centered interactions. Duties can also include leading TRX/Functional training classes, educating members on proper equipment usage, assistance in special events and fitness workshop development, and other aspects of the Fitness Center.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain communication link between Fitness Center Members and Guests, Fitness Center Management Team, Fitness Center Equipment Maintenance, Fitness Center Membership Services, and Fitness Center Part Time Staff.

  • Provide safe and effective exercise programming and progression for clients.

  • Maintain accurate client records.

  • Retain current clientele, and build current roster of clients.

  • Maintain knowledge of all training rates and procedures.

  • Track client packages, report and submit all sales transaction receipts and paperwork to the Fitness Team Leader, renew client packages on a timely basis.

  • Maintain knowledge and adherence to all Personal Training Program procedures and protocols; based on NCCA accredited certifications.

  • Ensure all personal training packages are current and sessions are removed in a timely manner.

  • Must make available minimum of 1 one hour equipment orientation and assessment times monthly.

  • Assist in overseeing facility and equipment for safety concerns.

  • Perform the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.

  • Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Help retain and attain new members through club promotion and customer service excellence.

  • Communicate positive and negative member responses/comments to management.

  • Develop and present fitness related workshops and seminars for members and guests.

  • Assist in conducting member and participant surveys.

  • Meet periodically with Fitness Team Leader to review goals and progress.

  • Adheres to all departmental and Park District policies and procedures.


SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting.

  • Must work around the general population.

  • Subject to modified/flexible work schedule.

  • Able to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required, including the ability to respond quickly and accurately to any and all emergencies.

  • Physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site.

  • Ability to lift moderate to heavy objects.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Holds a current Personal Training Certification from an NCCA accredited certifying body.

    • Advanced knowledge of proper training techniques in equipment and exercise instruction, and safety standards.

    • Experience in seminar, workshop, and lecture implementation and participation preferred.

    • Current CPR and AED certification.
