The New Community School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our wellness team as our Faculty and Staff Wellness Coach and Physical Education Strength and Conditioning Instructor. This position supports the overall health and well-being of our faculty, staff, and students through strength and conditioning training, wellness coaching, nutrition consultations, and physical education classes.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting fitness, overall health and wellness, and sports performance in a supportive, engaging, and inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide personal training services to faculty and staff to promote wellness and support fitness goals.
- Create personalized fitness plans tailored to individual needs and goals, including strength training, cardiovascular fitness, and injury prevention.
- Serve as a resource on all aspects of wellness
- Provide wellness resources and newsletters
- Provide nutrition consultation and education to faculty, staff, and students, offering guidance on healthy eating habits.
- Develop general nutrition programs and resources to promote wellness across the school community
- Provide ongoing support and motivation to help faculty and staff stay committed to their fitness journeys.
- Integrate health and wellness concepts into the physical education curriculum, promoting overall well-being.
- Lead a comprehensive strength and conditioning elective course that provides students with the knowledge and skills to improve physical fitness and athletic performance.
- Introduce students to various training techniques, including weight training, cardiovascular conditioning, and flexibility exercises.
- Design and implement sport specific strength and conditioning programs for athletic teams to enhance performance, prevent injuries, and improve overall fitness.
- Advise athletes on sport specific nutrition strategies to optimize performance and recovery.
- Work closely with coaching staff to align strength training with sport-specific goals and ensure safe, effective exercise techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate athlete’s progress, adjusting programs as necessary to meet their developmental needs.
- Supervise and motivate athletes, fostering an environment of hard work and dedication.
- Collaborate with other coaches and staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, physical education, health and fitness or a related field
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Certified Group Exercise Instructor or equivalent certification
- Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED
- Certified Nutrition Consultant preferred
- Experience in personal training of clients of varied ages and abilities
- Experience in coaching strength and conditioning in a school setting
- Experience with teaching students with learning differences preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students, athletes, and staff
