Job Description

Align your passion and skill set with HealthFitness by joining our team as Fitness and Recreation Program Coordinator at our client site in Torrance, CA!

Hours: 40 hours/wk
Schedule: M-Th 10a-6:30p, F 6:30a-3p **Schedule may change for short periods of time to accommodate Recreation leagues.
 
 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the health and well-being of our members in a variety of ways. You will be responsible for the development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated health, fitness and recreation programs and events, maximizing participation and engagement. You will manage the program delivery process, making sure staff is properly trained, monitor quality, and report on program outcomes. You may also participate in program delivery and perform other staff responsibilities such as greeting, checking-in and assisting customers, instructing group exercise classes; personal training; conducting fitness tests, exercise prescriptions, and orientations; and fitness floor coverage and facility oversight. Other duties as needed/assigned.

 

What you bring with you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or related discipline required along with 1+ years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Industry recognized Group Exercise certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA; if not current, will be required within 6 months of hire.
  • Current Adult First Aid and CPR/AED certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Safety & Health Institute. Note: certification must have an in-person component and not 100% online/OSHA complaint)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing and promotions.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
  • Proficiency in fitness assessment and exercise prescription.
  • Additional commission opportunities available for someone with an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved Personal Trainer certification.

Compensation: $52k - $57k/year. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications.
