About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.
Position Purpose: The Upper Main Line YMCA is looking for a Personal Trainer to develop and conduct personal training sessions and help transform our members’ fitness levels.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct personal training sessions and fitness assessments as scheduled and provide training in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner.
- Develop appropriate assessments and programming for individual client needs.
- Follow YMCA of Greater Brandywine guidelines for screening personal training clients.
- Report to scheduled sessions on time and be available to provide assistance.
- Ensure the proper exercise techniques are utilized by all members.
- Report any mechanical or breakdown problems immediately to supervisor and document.
- Build relationships with personal training clients and solicit members to participate in personal training programs.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Understand, follow and enforce all wellness center policies.
- Participate in special events and open houses.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of basic and advanced exercise principles required.
- Strong interest in health and fitness.
- Course work towards a bachelor’s degree in exercise science or health-related field preferred.
- Possess a NCCA accredited personal training certification.
- Lifting (up to 40lbs. independently, more than 50lbs. with assistance), walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or standing (for sustained periods of time).
